A highly experienced lighting designer/ Video Content Creator with over 35-years’ experience working across live music,TV, theatre, conferences and international events.

Background

Mark’s interest in lighting started at school. From there he moved onto the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. A 4-year Theatre and Lighting Design course at Croydon College followed. He was awarded a Higher Merit. His lighting design for “La Boheme” at the Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon was a high point for Mark during this time. Mark then moved to a full-time post at The Hexagon Theatre in Reading, UK as a lighting technician; he was promoted to chief electrician within a year. His next appointment was resident lighting designer at The Irish National Ballet based in Cork Ireland.

Moving back to the UK Mark joined Varilite in Cricklewood, North London and enrolled in the Varilite training course.Tours as Varilite programmer with Prince, Simple Minds and Tears For Fears followed, for the next few years Mark worked almost exclusively for Varilite culminating in LIVE magazine’s Moving Light Operator of the year in 1996. Mark toured the first commercial use of LSD’s “ICON” moving light system with Depeche Mode in 93/94. Mark worked closely with the software team to develop the console, he also showcased the system in different territories as the tour progressed.

Lighting Designer. Content Designer

Responsibility for the design and integration of lighting and custom media for Rod Stewart’s tours. Preparation and design of all Rod’s shows worldwide, including input on stage design, video content, show programming, lighting and effects. Mark is a keen user of WYSIWYG visualisation software linked with his Hog 4 console.  All projects are drawn, presented and pre-programmed in WYSIWYG where ever possible, saving the production time and money.

WYNN Design & development 2010/2011

Lighting & Media Consultant for  Wynn hotel  Las Vegas “Lake of Dreams”. Feasibility  study for major overhaul of large outdoor installation, working directly with Mr Wynn and Mark Fisher from Stufish Design.

Winter Olympics Torino 06

An eight-week contract programming the opening and closing ceremonies, plus assisting with setting, focusing and directing the live segments of the show.
